About

A small company with deep engineering roots

Chris Parsons founded Nalu Technology in 2022 in Waikoloa, on Hawaiʻi Island. It is the company behind a growing group of ventures, each built on the same mix of embedded systems, software, and hands-on making.

Nalu means wave in Hawaiian. The name reflects where the company lives and how it works: steady, repeated effort that builds into something larger over time.

Approach

How we decide what to build

  1. Compelling problems

We pick problems that matter to the people who have them, and technology that can grow beyond its first use.

  2. A real customer need

Every product has to solve a specific problem for a specific customer. If it does not, we stop.

  3. Cash flow early

We aim for positive cash flow quickly, so each venture can stand on its own and grow at a sustainable pace.

  4. Manageable risk

We take on technical risk deliberately and in stages, at a level a small company can carry.

  5. Learn by doing

We build, test, and iterate. A working prototype teaches more than a long planning document.
